Gega Elements has been named a finalist for the Best New Idea category in the 2026 Startup Daily Best in Tech Awards.
The award recognises early-stage startups with bold ideas, strong market potential and the ability to make a meaningful impact in their sector. Gega is one of four finalists in the category.
At Gega, developing and testing new ideas is fundamental to how we work. As a startup, we can move quickly: identifying problems, testing potential solutions and focusing our efforts on ideas that can be owned, commercialised and scaled.
That approach is particularly important as the market for gallium and germanium develops. Several major mining companies have announced plans to increase production of these critical minerals over the coming years. We see that growing supply as a positive signal that validates their importance and gives manufacturers greater confidence in their availability.
Demand is also growing. AI infrastructure, advanced semiconductors, fibre optics, electric vehicles and power electronics all rely on gallium and germanium. As supply becomes more secure, new applications for these materials can become commercially viable, creating further demand.
That is an important part of why we are building Gega Elements: not simply to increase the supply of gallium and germanium, but to help remove material availability as a constraint on new technologies.
We thank Startup Daily for recognising Gega Elements and the work our team is doing.
Winners will be announced at the Best In Tech Awards gala event in Sydney on 10 September.
