Gega Elements secures $1.98M ARENA funding for gallium and germanium pilot plant

ARENA

Gega Elements has secured more than $1.98 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to build a pilot plant for refining gallium and germanium in Sydney.

The funding will help Gega move from lab-scale development into pilot-scale operation, using its proprietary process to recover gallium and germanium, critical minerals that are not currently refined in Australia.

These materials are essential to semiconductors, solar technologies and modern electronics. Without chips, there is no fast charging, no advanced solar and no modern electronics. And without critical minerals, there are no chips.

For Gega, this is an opportunity to grow, build, learn and invest in know-how that is becoming increasingly important to Australia’s future.

We’re hugely thankful to the ARENA team for backing our work and believing that this capability can be built in Sydney.
